Democratic Republic of Congo
The apostolic work in the DR Congo is mostly based in our nine schools although Josephites are also involved in running the parishes attached to our schools in the Kasai. The DR Congo is the centre in Africa for the formation of new Josephites. The Novitiate is based in Ilebo in the West Kasai and the Scholasticate in Kimwenza not far from the University of Kinshasa.
The DR Congo has suffered over the recent years resulting in wide spread poverty. The Josephites and their schools are supported financially and materially by the three other regions (provinces) in the Josephite family. This is done, for example, through a specific charitable fund, St Joseph Africa Aid, which has been established for this purpose in England. Staff and students working in Josephite Schools outside the DR Congo are also very supportive financially as is the Josephite parish of St Louis de Montfort in Santa Maria, Ca. Donations of working manual sewing machines and computers are always welcome.
